What are cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are a class of fatty molecules that are created in the plant and secreted by the flowers. There are over 113 different active cannabinoids found in cannabis and some are yet to be discovered. These molecules naturally interact with the human endocannabinoid system.

Listed below are the most common cannabinoids:

THC TETRAHYRDOCANNABINOL

THC is the most abundant molecule found in the plant. THC is known to target chronic nerve pain because of its special relationship with Central Nervous System. This molecule is analgesic, anti-inflammatory, anti-nausea, anti-spasticity, anti-cancer, and anti-insomnia. This is the only molecule in the plant that possesses psychoactive qualities and can produce euphoric effects

CBD CANNABIDIOL

Cannabidiol is an extremely powerful molecule. It contains the highest anti- inflammatory properties found in nature. CBD targets pain, inflammation, anxiety, seizure disorder, short-term memory loss, and depression, among other benefits. Unlike THC, CBD does not produce intoxicating effects. CBD is known to counteract the pyschoactivity of THC. This can come in handy when wishing to reduce the euphoria of THC.

CBD from Hemp vs. Medical Marijuana CBD

The main difference between CBD available at the New Jersey Medical Marijuana dispensaries and CBD sold at PIH is the amount of THC. Our CBD products are derived from Hemp. Hemp is a cannabis plant that does not contain more than .03% of THC. CBD plants found at the dispensary might contain a little more THC, but not enough to produce strong intoxicating effects.

CBG CANNABIGEROL

Cannabigerol is another abundant molecule found in the plant with specific therapeutic benefits. CBG targets Glaucoma, muscle spasticity, aches and pains, and inflammation. This molecule can reduce ocular eye pressure, muscle tension, and can act as an appetite suppressant.
